On 3 June 2016, BASF was announced the winner of the Best Polymer Producers Award for Europe in the Polystyrene (PS) category in a ceremony held during the main conference of the European Plastics Converters (EuPC) annual meeting in Lyon, France. The chemical company received an overall score of almost 80%, the highest among all supplier companies of polymers from the PS-product family.

The award was introduced by the Polymers for Europe Alliance in 2015 and is based on a Europe-wide online customer satisfaction survey. Within three months, more than 250 polymer users from all over Europe cast their vote, rating the performances of their suppliers between June 2015 and May 2016. The suppliers are evaluated according to five criteria: quality, regulatory compliance, delivery performance, communication, and innovation.
